Like last year, this year’s Bangladesh Premier League also has been scheduled and it started on January 18, 2013. It is going to go on till February 19, 2013.
The Bangladesh Premier League made its mark when it started off in the month of February in 2012. It is a professional Twenty-Twenty Cricket Tournament League where there are teams consisting of players from all over the world. It currently has 6 franchises under it in the names of Barisal Burners, Sylhet Royals, Dhaka Gladiators, Khulna Royal Bengals, Duronto Rajshahi, Chittagong Kings, and Rangpur Riders. Last year’s champions were the Dhaka Gladiators who beat the Barisal Burners in the finals. The lowest scoring teams were the Sylhet Royals and the Chittagong Kings.
The main matches of BPL 2013 are scheduled to be played at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium of Mirpur, in Dhaka, the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna and the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong. The Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong will not be hosting any matches in the Bangladesh premier league this year.
Last year, the most number of runs were made by Ahemed Shehzad who is a part of Pakistan cricket team. Most number of wickets was taken by Elias Sunny (Bangladesh) and Mohammed Sami (Pakistan). Both had taken 17 wickets in a span of 12 and 11 numbers of matches, respectively. The Bangladesh Premier League started off with a lot of grandeur and excitement this year as well.
